The aim of this project was to produce a design solution for the extension of the existing Airport building of Samos, which at the time was not sufficient for all the passenger traffic of domestic and international flights.
The new building comprises 7.154m2 of floor space and was constructed 2.5m away from the west side of the existing building. It is dedicated to international flights passengers and is laid out in three levels, each housing one of the following functions:
– Departures/ Arrivals of International Flights
– Administration
– Control Tower

Some of the main factors that were considered throughout the design stage of the project were advanced functionality, possibility of further extension of the Airport facilities, as well as the balance between, cost of construction, cost of operations and level of service provided.
