Design of The New State Airport of Rhodes ‘Diagoras’
The project included the design of a new building, housing the international departures, which forms part of the main terminal at the State Airport of Rhodes “DIAGORAS”. The design also involves the landscaping of the surrounding area and the development of waste treatment facilities.
The new building will satisfy the ever-increasing needs for space within the framework of upgrading the services offered to travelers.
The main objectives of the design are:
– the functional and aesthetic flexibility of the structure to future expansions and additions
– the achievement of top quality construction
– the cost optimization of the initial structures for possible future expansions and
– the low maintenance cost
The design also ensures the aesthetic unification of exterior and interior areas of both the old and the new building as well as the adaptation of the building elevations to the environment and to the character of the island.
Furthermore, the design contributes to the improvement of the traffic flow of passengers, staff and luggage.
