Design of a Multi-Storey Office & Retail Building, Owned by The “Tzaneio” District General Hospital of Piraeus
This office and retail building is in Piraeus in a site belonging to “Tzaneio” District General Hospital of Piraeus. The building has two underground parking areas and E/M installations, a ground floor housing the main entrance and various shops operating independently from the rest of the building, a mezzanine floor that houses support services, and seven floors of shops and offices.
The offices are arranged along the elevations of the building, while the common use areas are located at the back. The use of a construction grid allows for numerous possibilities in arranging and separating office space. Besides, a major aspect of the design is to provide flexibility in the re-arrangement of areas, when necessary.
Furthermore, the main criteria of the design include the optimum allocation and arrangement of spaces so that they have the best possible functionality, the independent operation of the parking garage from the office and retail space, and the maximum exploitation of the underground space for parking use as planned.
Finally, the morphology of the elevations blends nicely with its environment, while projecting outwards the gravity and vitality of the functions and activities within the building.
