Design for The Reconstruction of a 4-Storey Building Owned by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Islands & Fisheries

The aim of this project was to produce a design solution for the reconstruction of the old four-storey storage house into a modern building that would house all the functions of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Islands and Fisheries.
One of the main aspects of this design was the creation of mid-level floors through the construction of composite slabs in order to achieve the maximum allowed floor space of 37.500m2.
The construction materials to be used for the facades of the building were selected out of the need to highlight the importance and the special character of a building that will house the functions of the Greek Maritime Affairs. Based on Bioclimatic principles, the facades include specially fixed blinds to protect the building from the sun.
Finally, the project included the design for the landscape of the building to include a parking station for 433 vehicles, circulation network and designated VIP entrances.
