District General Hospital “Asklipieion”, ‘Konialidion Building Re-Arrangement & Structural Reinforcement of Two Floors

This project dealt with the complete re-arrangement of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Konialidion building to house the nursing wards, as well as the preparation of the necessary documents or bidding. The building was damaged during an earthquake and at the time of the project only the first floor had been structurally reinforced. During the project the 2nd and 3rd floors were also reinforced and re-arranged in order to house two nursing wards each including 25 beds. In addition, the 2nd floor was arranged to also offer a 4-bed unit of Special Care.
Furthermore, the wards have been supplied with all the necessary facilities (offices, kitchenette, toilets in every room, clean and dirty utility rooms) including a new elevator and re- arrangement of the main entrance to the building and of the lobbies on each floor.
The total area in question is 730m2.
The programme of refurbishment and re-arrangement of functions of the existing buildings was a part of the study of the Master Plan for Asklepieion General Hospital covering the entire plot area and all the 36 buildings of it.
