The Hellenic Republic is committed to implement a large-scale
privatization program pursuant to the Medium – Term Fiscal Strategy 2012-2015.
Term Plan”.
The privatization involves, inter alia, the exploitation of the land area and assets widely known as Hellinikon, which was formerly the location of the old international airport of Athens and spans an area of approximately 600ha, with circa 3km seafront along the Athenian coastline (the “Land Area”). A number of buildings, structures, facilities, services and associated infrastructure currently exist within the site area.Takis Gavrilis & Partners along with Hill International were selected by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund and appointed as Urban Planning, Real Estate Technical Consultants for the privatisation.
The key objectives/issues/challenges that were addressed for this
extremely important Project included:
-Facilitate the creation of a new landmark precinct in Athens with public amenities which is sustainable, economically sound and a model for further growth.
-Incorporate into the HR Development Management skill sets and methodology to
effectively manage privatization initiatives.
-Achieving optimal acceptance/integration with adjoining community
-Develop an optimal Urban Design Framework
-Develop and deploy clear and effective developer/investor procurement packages
-Meet or exceed world class environmental objectives
-Provide and grow ongoing support for the privatization process

Hellinikon Area
